Standing Committees
There are a variety of ways to get involved, and support the unclaimed property industry. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please complete the committee interest form.
UPPO has a number of standing committees and also utilizes task forces as needed for short term projects. Please review the list of current committees. Only UPPO members in good standing may serve on a committee.
Bylaws committee
The bylaws committee is responsible for maintaining the UPPO Bylaws and other governing documents.

Claimant's representative committee
The claimant's representative committee ensures the needs of the association’s members, both holders and service providers, who attempt to recovery escheated property.  The committee's mission is to protect the owner’s rights and reunite them with their rightful property.

Education council 

The UPPO Education Council is responsible for overseeing that the education UPPO offers, supports the organizational mission and is responsive to the needs of membership and the profession at large. The education council coordinates the subcommittees involved in education (certificate program subcommittee, conference and seminar subcommittee, and the virtual learning subcommittee).

  • Certificate program subcommittee
    The certificate program subcommitee is monitored by the education council and is responsible for facilitating the structure and course content of the UPPO Unclaimed Property Certificate Program.
  • Conference and seminar subcommittee
    The conference and seminar subcommittee is monitored by the education council and is responsible for facilitating in-person educational opportunities and experiences for holders and holder advocates. 
  • Virtual learning subcommittee
    The virtual learning subcommittee is under direction of the education council, and facilitates the virtual educational opportunities and experiences for holders and holder advocates.
Ethics committee
The ethics committee is responsible for accepting, rejecting, and investigating complaints against members according to its procedural rules. Such investigation may result in a complaint being dismissed or one or more sanctions being imposed upon a member in accordance with the procedural rules. 
Finance committee
The finance committee is responsible for setting financial policies and procedures, and achieving compliance of these policies and procedures.
Government relations and advocacy committee
The government relations and advocacy committee is responsible for monitoring pertinent legislative, regulatory and policy issues, and communicating UPPO's positions on issues to appropriate members or groups.
Leadership development committee
The leadership development committee is responsible for developing programs and plans to identify present and future leaders for the unclaimed property industry and UPPO.
Member services committee
The member services committee will support new and existing members by spearheading projects that increase the value of membership.

Nominating committee

The nominating committee facilitates the election process for new officers and board members of UPPO.


Scholarship committee
The UPPO Scholarship Committee provides guidance and oversight of UPPO's scholarship program. This committee is also responsible for conducting fundraising activities for the scholarship program.
