Beware of Bogus State Information Requests Friday, October 11, 2024   Share | Several UPPO members have reported receiving suspicious requests from states to send files related to past unclaimed property reports. Such requests appear to have come from multiple states, may be marked as urgent and may request unencrypted information. The sender's email address may be similar but slightly different from the state unclaimed property administrator's actual email address. Knowing scammers have recently been using this tactic to acquire information, we encourage UPPO members to be highly suspicious of information requests that appear to come from the states.
